Il aux Nattes

Il aux Nattes is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The teeny-tiny island is located in the east of Madagascar, just south of Il Sainte Marie.

The island is a tropical paradise. Just 3 km long, and 2 km wide. The climate is tropical, which is responsible for the green and generous vegetation. Many species of Madagascar’s endemic flora and fauna are found on the island – including the Vari lemur, and many types of orchids.

On Il aux Nattes you’ll find very little modern development. There are no roads, and thereby no cars. The only way to get around is by foot or boat. There are no streets, and therefore no streetlights. There’s no general electricity, and therefore the entire island runs on solar- and wind power. It’s a magnificent example of a small community touched only a little by human hands.

Two villages are found on the island, housing almost 2000 people in total. Furthermore, there are a few great restaurants and a handful of hotels worth visiting.

Il aux Nattes is the perfect destination for those seeking complete relaxation and tranquility in extraordinary surroundings. Afraid you’ll get bored? Don’t be. There are plenty of activities on the island – especially enjoying the marine life and nature.

From Il aux Nattes’ northern point to Sainte Marie’s southern point, there are only a few hundred meters. They’re easily covered in Pirougue (a dug-out canoe), and from Sainte Marie’s southern point, there’s easy access to everything the larger island has to offer.
